Sam Ford (One Night Only - Indie/Rock/Pop)

Maple Frequency Response

One Night Only formed in Summer 2003 in Helmsley. After building up a strong local reputation, the band got their break. In 2007, the band toured with Milburn and The Pigeon Detectives. Their first headline tour started in January 2008, ending in March. This was for their first album "Started a Fire" which reached #10 in the UK chart. "Just for Tonight" reached #9 in the charts and "You and Me" re-released on July 7th 2008 charted at #1 for 5 weeks in the indie charts.

In August 2008, "You and Me" was chosen by the London 2012 Olympic Committee as the song for their "Celebration" Viral Film.

The band start their huge UK headlining tour in Cardiff on the 2nd October. More tour info will come soon.

Maple Frequency Response

Sam came to Acid Drums looking for a fat and warm sound which he wasn't getting from his current snare. We got to work here at Acid Drums and came up with the perfect snare for Sam. His snare is a 14"x6.5" 3/8" thick african mahogany segment snare with willow highlight bands. Clear lacqueer, chrome hardware, double ended tube lugs, die cast hoops, silver trick snare strainer and puresound blasters snares were added to the shell and really complement the shell. He will now be taking it out on One Night Only's Huge UK tour starting in October.

Check out Sam's's drumming and snare at One Night Only's website and myspace pages. (www.onenightonly.com and www.myspace.com/onenightonlyonline).

Christian Scott (Sennah - Rock/Metal/Pop)

Maple Frequency Response

Christian Scott joined Sennah in October 2007 having finished his drum studies at ACM (Academy of Contempory Music). Since joining the band he has helped catapult there music making them one of the bands to watch in 2008. I first met Christian in Andertons Music Store (Guildford) where he was working in the Drum Department. He took our snare which I had brought in for Andertons to test and he took to it like a fish to water. From that day he said he wanted his own Acid snare.

Christian is now the proud owner of a 14"x6" Leopord Glitter Acrylic snare with Brass Hardware. It is fitted with double ended tube lugs, die cast rims, Trick strainer and butt and Puresound Blasters snares.

Sennah are currently putting the final touches on to their much anticipated album "Days like this" which will be released in August 2008. Mark Burrows of Warner Music has written the following biography of the band so far:-

In Metal and rock “Pop” is a dirty word, (which is weird because calling your audience “MUTHAF*%£^EEEERS!!” seems to be fine) in which case Sennah have the filthiest mouths in music.

But then the five college buddies from Guildford, England are all about smashing expectations: They’re not supposed to put such gut-busting, titanic metal riffs with tunes the milkman could whistle. They’re not supposed to make such a loud, grinding, brilliant racket but actually have something to say. They’re not supposed look so young and be such jaw-dropping musicians.

Whatever you expect of Sennah is exactly what you’re never gonna get. Take Californian singer Laura, a trained classical pianist with a voice that could probably sing the Planet apart, who whirls around the stage in a pink tutu with fury in her throat that suggests she’s seconds away from kicking your face in with her dainty boxer-boots.

Make no mistake, Sennah are a HEAVY band…there’s walloping riffs here straight out of the Dimebag Darrel school of powerchord hard knocks, and drums that sound like the double kick pedal is smashing straight into your skull. But that’s only half the story. There’s also freshness, a feel for melody and big avalanche chorus that makes Hannah Montana sound like Sepultura. Sennah have managed to pull off being an awesome metal band with great pop songs, and that is a rare treat indeed.

Sennah have been together for three years, in which time the five-piece have solidified a sound that is uniquely their own, and a loyal fanbase to rival any unsigned act. In that time they’ve shared stages with Wheatus, Kids In Glass Houses, and (on the Rocksound Stage at Guilfest last year) Ruben and Hell Is For Heroes. They’ve worked with producer Dave Chang (Capdown/ 4ft Fingers/ Earthtone9/Orange Goblin) on the awesome ‘All I Needed’ (available on iTunes), and a 5-Track EP, ‘Worthy, as well as signing a publishing deal with Platinum sound, licensed via Universal Music. And if that weren’t enough, they’ve recorded a track especially for the PSP game ‘Juiced’ and found time to release series of brilliant and entertaining podcasts showing life in the band. Sheesh!

Musicaly they’re a smoldering cauldren of different sounds that somehow merge into something bitingly fresh: a smidge of the emotive rock of Funeral For a Friend here, a pinch of Sum41 power pop there, a dollop of Killswitch Engage trad-metal, a teaspoon of Garbage’s smokey swagger, the tiniest of tiny droplets of Avril Lavigne. No way should that mix work. But apparently no-one’s told Sennah that, because it sounds awesome.

Sennah: making the rules up as they go along, tearing the old order to shreds and doing it on their own terms. Can you handle the bad language?
